The Skincare #24: Pre-Tanning Prep
Monday, 1 July 2013
I have to admit I much prefer dressing for Winter - chunky boots, cosy knits, an excuse to drink a ridiculous amount of hot chocolate... With Summer and the hotter, humid weather along with combating my oilier skin and frizz prone hair presents another issue - the realisation that it's just too warm for my black skinny jeans and I may have to get the pins out by wearing a dress or a skirt! The world isn't quite ready for me to uncover my blindingly pale, pasty limbs so before I delve into my Summer wardrobe, I slap on the gradual tan and prior to that I scrub and hydrate!
First up exfoliation with St. Ives Apricot Body Scrub. While I no longer use a manual scrub on my face, I like quite gritty body scrubs. The grains are larger so they really stick to the skin. This removes old tan and dead skin cells and leaves the skin soft and smooth and primed for moisturising. For this step, I've been slathering on the Palmer's Cocoa Body Butter. As it is a butter and so thick in consistency this takes a while to sink in to the skin so I apply this at night and slide into bed! This smells delish and is a really thick body butter that leaves the skin super soft and hydrated. Now I'm ready for a layer or four of false tan ;)
If the thought of showing some skin makes you too want to lie down in a dark room with cold cloth pressed to your forehead why not also have a little pre-tanning prep?
